Intel release statement on CPU Flaws as Linux Creator calls their CPUs garbage | Intel | clip60 Intel, AMD and ARM (among others) have issued statements regarding the security bugs with priviledged memory and kernel spaces - to the issues known as Spectre and Meltdown. Intel are claiming that other vendors are vulnerable, but AMD has gone on record to point out they are barely impacted with these issues. Furthermore, Intel were aware of these cpu issues regarding speculative execution back in June of 2017. So in short, the company have been selling hardware to users with knowledge of spectre and meltdown.

Intel's hardware is vulnerable back until 1995, AMD is vulnerable to only one variant of attack which is patchable and reduces performance very slightly, where as Intel's performance is NOT patchable for at least one bug and worse, performance loss is at LEAST 17 percent in databases.
